But the term "covered butter dish" is far too restrictive for this lovely piece. Besides holding butter, consider a cheese ball, steak butter, molded pate, cubes of fudge or cheese, cream cheese, small cookies, and more.

The covered butter dish is a deep cobalt blue glass. Each part is heavy glass, handmade in the USA.

Made in the Queens pattern, the plate gently ruffles around the edge. the bottom of the plate has an intricate pressed glass pattern that shows through the smooth top of the plate. It's such a beautiful detail. Pictures simply don't do this covered butter dish any justice.

The Queens pattern is also referred to as "Daisy and Button."

The dome is 5 inches across at the base. The plate is 7 1/4 inches in diameter. The set is 4 3/4" tall.

Steak Butter Recipe

1/2 cup butter at room temperature
3/4 tsp. mixed Italian herbs (Italian spice)
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese, sharp or mild
1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix all ingredients until well combined. Shape butter into cake or log. Chill well for several hours to blend flavors.

Serve with steak, bread, corn, or other cooked vegetables.
