The graceful Nicole pattern enhances this lovely cobalt blue glass egg plate.

Egg plates are great for deviled eggs and other stuffed egg dishes, of course.  But also think of displaying your favorite ceramic, glass, metal, chocolate, or candy eggs as well.

Use the egg plate at your next breakfast or brunch to serve boiled eggs.  Use the center to serve sausage or ham.  Or put a tiny bouquet of fresh herbs in the center.

The egg plate is American handmade glass and 11 inches in diameter.

Tip:  Use a food mill to prepare egg yolks for deviled eggs if you are planning to press the yolk mixture through a decorative tip with a pastry bag.  Otherwise, lumps of yolk will interrupt the flow of your filling and mar your presentation.  If you use pickles in your mixture, scooping the filling back into the cooked egg whites is a better option.

Here's a change of pace from deviled eggs.  They make a wonderful breakfast or brunch dish.  Peel the eggs under warm running water to make peeling easy.  And put the peeled eggs into very warm water while you are peeling the rest so that they remain warm during preparation.

Bacon and Cheese Stuffed Eggs Recipe

  • 6 eggs, hard boiled and peeled
3 strips of bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
    1 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 oz. asiago cheese, finely shredded (substitute cheddar, if you wish)
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. coarse black pepper
    fresh chives for garnish, optional

  • Cut the eggs into halves lengthwise.  Pop the yolks into a bowl by carefully pressing the back of the egg while gently pulling the edge of the white towards you.

  • Reserve the whites for stuffing.

  • Add the remaining ingredients except for chives.  Mix well until all of the ingredients are moist.  Add a small amount of additional butter, if needed.

  • Carefully spoon the yolk mixture into the egg whites.  Garnish with two small pieces of chives, if desired.

  • Arrange on an egg plate, of course!
