These cobalt blue glass custard cups hold 6 oz. and are made by Anchor Hocking.

Egg custard is a very easy and very versatile dessert.  It can be made full fat with real sugar for a wonderful treat.  But it can also be made reduced fat with sugar, full fat with sugar substitute, or reduced fat with sugar substitute.  All versions turn out great!

Baked Egg Custard Recipe

3 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup sugar or the equivalent in sugar substitute
2 cups milk, whole, 2%, or skim
dash salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Mix the eggs and sugar together.  Add the milk, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg.

Divide the mixture among 6 6-oz. custard cups.

Place the custard cups into a shallow baking dish.  Place the baking dish on the middle rack of the oven.  Pour hot water into baking dish until the custard cups are sitting in approximately 1 inch of hot water.

Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.

Serve warm or chilled.  Serves 6.
